College Planning

Getting Started

Many students and parents request help with the college planning process. The office of academic affairs can help meet various needs, from getting started to competing recommendation forms and sending transcripts.

·         Parents who are helping a student for the first time to go through the college planning process may find it helpful to follow the link to The College Planning Process in a Nutshell. This will give you the basic steps involved in the search for the right college.

·        Those who are familiar with the routines may go directly to the link to print a transcript request form. Simply drop off the form at C-wing office and we will prepare the transcript for you.

·         If you have counselor information forms that are part of the application that a college has sent to you, please bring them by the Guidance Office and we will prepare them for you.

·         If you prefer, you may bring your completed college application, a request for transcript form, and the college’s application fee by the Guidance Office and we will prepare your transcript and mail the entire package for you. This is the easiest way to be sure all of your documents arrive to the college’s admission office intact.

·         Financial aid forms are available in the College Resource Room. FAFSA forms are available in December and may be filed as early as January 1 of each year. We will have a limited supply of paper copies since many people file these online. See the links below if you prefer to file online.

·         As we receive scholarship information during the course of the year, we will make announcements in our daily news bulletin. Please encourage students to listen for these opportunities and follow up with the information. These announcements will also be in the college newsletters.
