At Northside Christian Academy, high school students follow one of three diploma tracks for graduation: Advanced College Preparatory Track, College Preparatory Track, and General Studies Track. These tracks are designed to meet the academic needs of students of varied learning abilities and performance levels. Further details and course listings for each track are provided during the time of course registration.Advanced College Preparatory Track:Students in this track take the most rigorous and demanding courses to prepare them for acceptance at selective colleges. The students in the advanced track build their transcripts with several honors and Advanced Placement courses and typically exceed the minimum credits required in math, science, and foreign language. They work to achieve high SAT scores, excellent grades, high class rank, and are involved in extracurricular as well as community service activities. Students who earn an Advanced College Prep diploma have takes 2 or more AP courses or at least 1 AP course and a minimum of 2 honors courses.College Preparatory Track: This track is similar to the advanced college preparatory track except these students may not take as many honors or AP courses. They usually exceed the minimum requirements in history, science, or foreign language. Students in this track work for above average SAT scores, good grades, good class rank, and are involved in extracurricular as well as community service activities. Students who earn a College Prep diploma have met or exceeded the requirements in core subject areas, including 4 college prep math courses, and have taken a minimum of two years of the same foreign language. General Education Track: This track is geared to meet the needs of students who may require the atmosphere of a small class and considerable individualized help from the teacher to do their best work. Other students may choose this track because they experience considerable difficulty in the mainstream college preparatory classes. Students in this track take General Business Math, General Consumer Math, and General Algebra I. This track has no foreign language requirement. Students who earn the General Studies Diploma may enter the workforce or community college after graduation. |
