In
music, students learn to confidently use their singing voice. They
sing a variety of songs, but spiritual songs are emphasized.
Students learn the fundamentals of music using rhythm instruments,
song flutes, recorders and a variety of bells. Students are exposed
to timeless classics from around the world. They also learn about
the life and times of various composers to aid the students in
understanding the context of the music.
Students
attend art class once a week. Art is based on the elements and
principles of design. This course helps students notice differences
in shapes, forms, lines, color, differences in light and dark,
texture, balance, variety, symmetry, and space with some
introduction to art history. Art encourages individual expression
and creative problem solving, as well as tools skills, and
techniques that students may use throughout their lives.
