Guidance Department
Welcome
to the Guidance Department for Northside Christian Academy. Because students make many academic decisions
beginning in ninth grade and impacting the rest of their high school years and beyond, we have developed these pages
of helpful information for both students and parents. One of the first decisions students need to make is their graduation track.
At NCA we offer two graduation tracks for students enrolled in grades 9-12: the College Preparatory Track and the
Advanced College Preparatory Track. Both the college preparatory and advanced college preparatory tracks are geared
for those who will enroll in a four-year college immediately after graduation. For more complete information, please
select the Graduation Tracks link to the right.
Another important area deals with standardized testing. All students at NCA follow a testing program designed to assess learning
as well as to make decisions regarding programs of study, college entrance, and career choices. We work closely with
the College Board to offer the PSAT, the SAT, and Advanced Placement tests on our campus. Choose the
Testing Information link to the right to see what tests are appropriate at each grade level.
You will also find here important details including dates and locations of the tests.
Finally, I encourage you to use the College Planning link to the right as you guide your child
through the many college decisions that are made during the high school years. You will find information here regarding college fairs
and other opportunities. We have also provided links to financial aid sources, the common application to college, as well as scholarship opportunities.
Be sure to read my college-planning newsletter and view the documents showing year-by-year checklists in preparation for college admission.
I hope you find this information helpful. In addition to
viewing this information, you may wish to arrange a visit to our College
Resource Room, located in C-wing. Please call 704.596.4074 or email me at
snelson@ncaknights.com
to make an appointment. I’ll be happy to assist you.
