Northside Christian Academy’s upper elementary school in Charlotte, N.C., offers its students a challenging, rewarding environment for growth and development. Our private middle school’s rich variety of academic, artistic, and physical education program meets the needs of all students who walk through our doors, and every student is given opportunities to grow, explore, develop and discover.

Growth in Grace

Grades 6th, 7th & 8th are a time of rapid change for every student. Northside’s middle school faculty and staff understand the pressures involved in this crucial life stage and work hard to provide a safe, welcoming, loving environment where your child can grow “in wisdom, stature and in favor with God and man” (Luke 2:52).

Our teachers, staff and administration partner with Christian families in and around Charlotte, NC, to build on the foundation laid at home and to prepare students for the high school experience ahead. Our goal is to educate all of our middle school students in Biblical truth and practical Biblical wisdom for life, while teaching all subjects from a Christian world and life view.

Grades 5th and 6th are considered ‘Middle School’ in most public and charter schools; we choose to keep these grades as ‘Upper Elementary.’ As part of our nurturing the whole child philosophy, we provide a soft launch into Middle School / Junior High School. 5th and 6th grades will experience having class periods, teacher and room changes, and a choice in Fine Arts class elective.

Growth in Knowledge

Our upper elementary curriculum program integrates a rich understanding of the Biblical text with an age-appropriate, yet rigorous, academic curriculum. Our teachers are our “Living Curriculum,” integrating faith and learning throughout the entire classroom experience. They are also nurturing, pouring their time, experience and knowledge into each student and across all ability levels.

All upper elementary students take Bible, English, history, math and science, and may take electives in art, choral music, computer, creative writing, foreign language and speech/drama.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of Northside Christian Academy is to partner with Christian families to provide a Christ-centered, biblically based education in pursuit of excellence.

SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY

Founded in 1961 as a ministry of Northside Baptist Church, Northside Christian Academy draws students from the greater Charlotte area with a growing enrollment in K-6. These students benefit from a challenging academic program as well as a variety of co-curricular and extracurricular opportunities.

ACADEMIC RECOGNITION

NCA Students are regularly recognized for their academic achievements by outside organizations, including Duke University’s TIP program.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Northside Christian Academy requires students to participate in community service both corporately through student organizations as well as individually. The school helps students track their community service hours in high school and recognizes at graduation those students who have accumulated 250 hours or more of community service. The class of 2020 accrued over 4,600 hours of community service.
